Description

Boothlands Farm House is a house that dates from the late 16th century, which was extended and refaced in the 1880s, with further extensions added to the rear in the 1940s. The house has a timber frame that is covered in whitewashed brick and render below, with 19th-century tile hanging above, some of which features fishscale pattern bands. There is a 19th-century timber-framed gable on the left end. The roofs are plain tiled and step up to the left. Originally, it was a three-bay house with a central chimney, and the extensions create a T-shaped plan. The house has two storeys and multiple ridge stacks, including an old stack now positioned to the right of centre, an end stack to the right, and another stack on the wing.

To the right of centre, there is a gabled angle bay with casement windows, featuring a cambered head on the ground floor. There is one window on each floor to the right of the bay, and two windows on the first floor and one larger window on the ground floor to the left of centre. Each floor of the gabled wing has a corner window, with the ground floor window being a projecting, flat-roofed angle bay. A 19th-century plank door is located in a 19th-century gabled porch to the right of centre.

Inside, the framing is exposed on the partition walls, with stop-chamfered spine beams and joists visible on the ceilings. There is a deep brick fireplace, which has been rebuilt, on the ground floor, while the old outer end wall remains intact on the first floor. The roof features queen struts with some bracing.
