Description
Pond Cottage is a house, possibly built for an iron master, dating from the 17th century. It features a timber frame, with galleted Bargate rubble at the base and brick above, topped by a plain tiled roof. To the left, there is a weatherboarded range. The building has two storeys and an end stack on the left, with an additional stack at the rear. There is a plinth and a plat band at the ground floor level. The first floor has four small plain casement windows, while the ground floor has three windows, including one four-light window with brick dressings. The door is located to the left of center, and there is one window connecting to the weatherboarded range. Another door is situated at the left end. On the right-hand return front, there is incised render in the gable and one window on each floor, both under a tiled pentice hood supported by braces. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams on the ceilings and partition frames on the walls.
