Description
Primrose Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 17th century. It is built of regularly coursed ironstone rubble and has a plain tile roof. The structure is U-shaped with a wing attached to the left side. The central part is a single storey plus attic, featuring a two-window range, while the right side has a gable-front bay that is two storeys plus attic. There are three entrances, each with plank doors that have shouldered heads, which have been renewed in stone.
On the ground floor, there are a three-light and a four-light stone mullioned window, both of which have fragmentary remains of hood moulds and stops. The attic and first floors have two- and three-light stone mullioned windows, also with fragmentary remains of hood moulds, and some stone mullions have been replaced. On the right end, there is a two-light casement window with iron glazing bars and a wooden lintel, alongside a small two-light window with a stone surround. Additionally, there is a two-light stone mullioned window with fragmentary remains of a hood mould in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
