Description

Ivy Cottage is probably a 17th-century house, and it is partly derelict. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble and has a thatched roof. There are two stone stacks with brick flues, one at the left end and one on the ridge. The building comprises three units. It has a single storey and an attic. A panelled door has a moulded hood surround and a wooden lintel. To the left of the door is a small extension with a sloping roof, and to the right is a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel. A small window is positioned above the door. The left end of the cottage, facing Rose Bank, has a blocked window with a stone surround and hood mould with label stops on the ground floor. Above this is a three-light stone mullioned window with hood moulds in the attic, and a small, rectangular blocked window above that. Ironstone quoins are visible. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
