Description
No. 71 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a stone-coped parapet that partly obscures a plain tiled roof. It stands three and a half storeys tall, with chimney stacks located at the rear.
The parapet has four sunk panels and is situated above two 8-pane glazing-bar sash windows with margin lights, which are set in the half storey. On the second floor, there are two 12-pane glazing-bar sash windows with margin lights, also beneath gauged-brick heads. The first floor features two round-headed casement windows that have intersecting tracery in the round heads, recessed under semi-circular gauged-brick arches with stone impost blocks. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front, and the return walls are tile hung.
