Description
No. 22 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features an old tile roof, designed in an L-shape. The building stands 2½ storeys tall, with 2 storeys at the rear. It has a moulded plaster eaves cornice, two gabled eaves dormers with casement windows, parapeted gable ends, and end stacks. The front facade consists of two bays, with glazing bar sash windows that have flush frames, gauged heads, and painted raised keystones. The ground floor includes two shop fronts: the left side features a 19th-century design with a small-paned bay and a half-glazed door, while the right side has a 20th-century plate glass window and a half-glazed door. The left-hand elevation has four bays on the first floor, with glazing bar sash windows similar to those on the front, although some have been replaced in the 20th century.
