Description
No. 14 Market Place is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the early to mid-17th century and was restored in the late 20th century. The building is timber framed with rendered square panels and features straight braces, topped with old tile roofs. It consists of one framed bay, with a lower one framed bay wing at the rear, and stands one and a half to two storeys tall. The front has raised eaves.
The north front showcases a jettied first floor on the right-hand bay, which is supported by moulded bressumers and cut brackets. The left side has a gable end with a queen post truss and v-struts. There is a 20th-century shopfront with a plate glass window on the left and a boarded door on the right. Scattered throughout are 20th-century casements and an off-centre boarded door to the right.
