Description
No. 6 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a flat and shop. It dates from the 17th century, with some refacing from the early 18th century. The building is timber framed, later faced with red brick and features ashlar dressings, topped with an old tile roof. There are remains of one framed bay on the left side. The structure has three storeys and a ramped parapet with moulded stone coping. There is a stack at the left end and another stack at the rear right. The facade has three bays, with the right bay slightly recessed. The windows are glazing bar sashes with flush frames, and they have gauged heads with projecting keystones. To the left, there is a 20th-century double fronted shopfront that includes two small-paned bow windows with flanking pilasters and a central half-glazed door with a pilastered surround. There is also a pedestrian passageway to the right.
