Description
No. 4 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone alterations in the mid-19th century. The building is made of stuccoed brick and features an old tile roof. It stands three storeys high and has a moulded wooden eaves cornice, with two stacks located off-centre to the left and right at the rear.
On the second floor, there are two small-paned windows that have been sealed, while the first floor has two glazing bar sash windows to the right. The right side also features a 20th-century shop front with two plate glass windows. To the left, there is a two-storey canted bay added in the mid-19th century, which has a moulded eaves cornice and a lead roof. The first floor of this bay includes three glazing bar sash windows.
The ground floor is distinguished by Doric pilasters that support a full entablature, with windows and a central 20th-century glazed door that has an arched fanlight above it. Flanking the door are arched windows, all of which are adorned with moulded architraves, imposts, and scrolled keystones.
