Description
Dunn and Company is a house that has been converted into shops and offices, built in the late 19th century. It features a brown brick structure with red brick and stone decorations, and a wooden shop front on the ground floor. The roof is plain-tiled and hidden behind a stone-coped parapet. The building stands three storeys high with an attic, showcasing cornices on the first and second floors; the lower cornice has decorative arcading, while the upper cornice is supported by brackets. There is a small string course above the attic, flanked by small rainwater heads and downpipes, with larger decorative versions on the first and second floors. The front has two bays, with two 6-pane glazing-bar sash windows in the attic, set in cambered-head architrave surrounds. The second floor has two plate sashes beneath segmental heads, which are adorned with alternating red brick and painted stone blocks. On the first floor, there are two round-headed plate sashes under similar keystoned heads, with carved patterned stone semi-circular panels above the windows. The ground floor features a wooden shop front with six glazed panels beneath a fascia board and two plate windows, one on either side of a deep central recess. This building is included for its group value.
