Description
No. 38 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the 18th century, or it may be a casing over an older building. The front of the building is made of red brick and features a long range with a steep hipped roof covered in old red tiles, which is set behind a parapet. At the northwest, there is a weatherboarded rear wing, and to the southwest, a 19th-century red brick rear wing. The building is two storeys high and three windows wide, facing east. It has recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes, plastered reveals, and flat gauged arches. The long 19th-century shop front includes a fascia and painted stone fluted pilasters. The northwest rear wing has two storeys and an attic, featuring three-light flush casements and a lateral chimney on the north side.
