Description

This is a house, now divided into three commercial properties, dating from the 17th and early 18th centuries, with an extension added in the early 19th century (number 53). The building has a timber frame with dark weatherboarding at the north end, but a red brick front with blue headers. The south extension (number 53) is of lighter red brick. It has steep old red tile roofs, with the lower southern part hipped.

Number 51 is composed of two sections. The left-hand side has two flush, two-light casement windows, a segmental arch above a half-glazed door, and a shop window with a segmental plan and plastered reveals. The right-hand side is symmetrical, featuring two recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes, a large square sunk panel in between, and a pilastered shopfront with a fascia over two windows flanking a glazed door. Number 53, at the south, has a dentilled eaves course and segmental arches above recessed sash windows with 8/8 panes, above 20th-century shopfronts.
