Description

Fords Farm House is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been reclad and extended in the late 19th and 20th centuries on the right side. The core of the house is timber framed and is clad in red and blue brick on the left, featuring a diaper pattern on the left-hand return front with a stone plinth. The center of the front is clad in brown brick, while the right side has a 19th-century timber frame with brick infilling. The roofs are plain tiled and half-hipped, with a tile-hung end on the left gable and a timber frame gable with herringbone brick infill to the left of center. The roof steps down to the center and rises over the right end.

The house is two stories high, with a string course across the ground floor on the left and left of center, and a jettied first floor on the right end. There is a multiple ridge stack with a corbelled top on the left, along with further stacks at the roof junctions and to the left of center. The center range has taller ridge stacks, some of which are patterned. The left side has two bays with leaded casement windows, arranged regularly with two windows on each floor. There is a projecting gable to the left of center, with three windows across the first floor, including one three-light window in the center and two single-light flanking windows. The ground floor features a ribbed door and three windows on the first floor center, one of which is under a dormer. Additionally, there is a projecting ground floor angle bay and a gabled bay end wing to the right.
