Description

Send Barns is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and has a complex facade. The left side is clad in colour-washed brick, the right side in rendered finish, and the first floor is tile-hung with a swept-out base. The roofs are tiled, of varying heights, extending over a 20th-century extension to the front right. There are several brick stacks: one to the front right, one to the gable, and corbelled stacks to the right and rear. The two-storey portion on the left features a first-floor casement window and a gabled dormer. The large gable to the front left of centre has a half-hipped, square bay with two first-floor and one ground-floor casement windows. A single casement window is located on the first floor of the right-hand gable, with a three-light diamond-pane casement window to the left. There are three windows on the ground floor. A square extension is present at the right end. A half-glazed door is set within a modillioned and pedimented surround supported by Doric half-columns.
