Description

Aldertons is a house with a core dating back to the 15th century, featuring extensions from the 17th century at the ends and rear, as well as 20th-century extensions at the ends. The building is timber framed and clad in whitewashed brick, with the frame exposed in the gable ends on the right and whitewashed render infill. The first floor has tile hanging, some of which is arranged in fishscale banding, and the roofs are plain tiled.

The house is designed as a central hall with a lower wing that projects at right angles to the front right, extended at the ends. It stands two storeys tall and has a large multiple ridge stack to the left of the main block, an offset gable end stack to the right, and additional stacks at the rear. The windows are leaded casements, with one window on the first floor of the gable and a four-light casement below it on the ground floor. The extension to the left has one window on each floor, while the right-hand extension features two windows on each floor, including one that projects through an eaves gabled dormer.

There is a 20th-century gabled brick porch to the left of centre, which has a ribbed door. At the rear, there is a framed catslide. Inside, the principal posts are exposed and some ceiling frames are visible.
