Description
Smithbrook Manor is a house with a core dating back to the 15th century, significantly extended in the 17th century. The house is timber framed, set on a brick plinth with whitewashed brick infill, and partly underbuilt to the right. The first floor and gable on the left have “club” tile hanging, while the roofs are plain tiled. The building follows a T-shaped plan, with a cross wing projecting to the right. It is two storeys high and features multiple corbelled stacks along the ridge, to the left of the centre. The gables have scalloped and pierced bargeboards. The windows are a mix of irregular diamond-paned, leaded casements; the first floor has two windows, and there is a single, between-floors window and one ground floor casement to the left. The centre features a single 4-light window on the first floor and a 3-light window below. The gable to the right has a 3-light window on each floor. A glazed door is positioned to the left of the centre and a half-glazed, panelled door is located to the left side of the right-hand gable, sheltered by a flat hood. A single-story whitewashed brick extension is attached to the right. The cross wing has thin framing exposed, along with a further corbelled stack and diamond-paned, leaded casement windows.
