Description

Pondhead Farm House is a house dating back to the 16th century, with extensions added in the 17th century to the left end and the 18th century to the right. More recent additions have been made to the rear, and it may incorporate a still older core. The house is timber framed with red and blue brick infilling, some laid in a herringbone pattern. The brickwork below the right-hand side is clad, with a rendered plinth and tile hanging above, and brick cladding to the left. The roof is tiled, with a hip to the left.

The house has two storeys and three framed bays, with a cross wing extending to the left. A very large brick stack rises under corbelled tops toward the rear, left of centre. Tension braces are visible at the ends of the first floor. The front has three leaded casement windows on the first floor, and two windows and one single-light casement on the ground floor. To the right are two windows on each floor, and a three-light window on each floor of the gabled wing to the left. A ribbed door is set within an open, gabled porch in the centre. The left return front features a thin frame with whitewashed brick infilling. A pentice extension is visible to the left of the centre on the rear.

Internally, substantial quantities of timber framing are exposed, including moulded ceiling joists.
