Description
Wastlands, located on Pond Head Lane in Abinger, is a house dating from the 17th century, with 19th and 20th century extensions at both ends and the rear. The structure features a timber frame that is exposed on the first floor to the left and on both floors at the center, with brick infilling. The infill on the first floor left uses larger bricks, while the extensions at each end are made of brown brick, with the right extension having tile hanging above. The roofs are plain tiled, with Horsham slabs on the front pitch of the older roof.
The house has a two-bay end chimney plan, with a stack located on the right side and extensions at both ends. It stands two storeys tall, with the stack on the right. The first floor showcases ogee bracing and has three windows, while the ground floor has four windows, including two cambered-head windows to the left. Each of the end extensions has one window. There is a 20th century brick porch with a pentice roof to the left of center, featuring a part-glazed door flanked by lights. The rear has 20th century extensions that include two dormer windows.
