Description

Newman's is a house dating to the late 16th century, which was later re-clad in the 18th and early 19th centuries. It has a timber frame on a rendered plinth, with brown and red brick cladding, and rendered cladding to the gable on the left. The roof is tiled, with a central rear ridge and multiple stacks under a corbelled top. The house has two storeys and an attic in the left gable, featuring a leaded attic window. A tiled pentice hood is positioned under the gable, supported by brick dentils. There are three leaded casement windows across the first floor, and two three-light windows on the ground floor. A 20th-century stable-style door is positioned centrally within a gabled porch, open on the left and closed with a brick section and arched window on the right. The right-hand return front displays an exposed Queen-post roof truss in the gable. Three wings extend to the rear, with a hipped roof over the centre section.
