Description

Berryfield Farmhouse is a house that dates from the late 16th to 17th century, with some exposed timber framing visible inside. The house was recased in brick and extended to the left in the mid to late 18th century, and to the right in the early 19th century, with further extensions added to the rear. It features red and vitreous brick with red brick quoins, a flush band course at the first floor, a plain plinth, and moulded eaves. The roof is covered with old tiles, and the chimney is made of red and vitreous brick with red quoins between the left bays. The building has two storeys and an attic, with four irregular bays, the rightmost being an early 19th-century addition. It has two and three-light leaded casements, with segmental heads on the ground floor, although the left window has been altered. There are two hipped dormers with paired leaded casements on the left side. A flush panelled door, which is top-lit, is located between the right bays and has a flat wooden cornice hood supported by metal brackets. At the rear, there is a narrow parallel range from the early 19th century with paired leaded casements, along with a 20th-century extension featuring a roughcast upper storey at the back of the right bay. Inside, the central ground floor room has a chamfered spine beam.
