Description
Weir Lodge is a lodge cottage built around 1880-1890, likely designed by W. Taylor of Bierton for Alice de Rothschild. The structure features coursed rubble stone, some roughcast, and half-timbering on the upper floor and gables. It has tiled roofs and a brick chimney with stone bands, along with another chimney to the east that has irregular stonework at its base. The building is picturesque, standing two storeys tall with an attic and is approximately two bays wide.
On the south side, there is a central gabled projection that includes a gabled and jettied balcony on the first floor, with a door below and wooden attic windows above. To the left, another gabled projection features a first-floor verandah with turned wooden balusters. A lean-to wraps around the north-west corner, and there is a large semi-circular projection to the east. The stone sections have stone mullion windows, while the half-timbered areas contain wooden casements. Additionally, several terracotta plaques display Rothschild badges and mottoes.
