Description

Old Stream Cottage and Springside Cottage are a house and addition, now divided into two dwellings. The original core of the building dates to the early 18th century, with a further addition constructed in the 19th century. The original part is built of painted stone rubble, some of which is rendered, with an old plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The front facade is two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement. A 20th-century glazed door is located in the centre, with a 20th-century lean-to porch in front. The windows are 2-light casements with wooden lintels, except for a single-light casement on the first floor centre. The 19th-century addition to the right is built of painted brick and has an old plain-tile half-hipped roof. It is a single-storey structure with an attic, featuring a two-bay range. This section includes a 20th-century door and porch on the right side, and a 3-light casement with a segmental brick head to the left. A 3-light raking half-dormer is also present on the left side. The interiors were not inspected. The property is included on the list for group value.
