Description
Stocks is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations. It features a stone uncoursed rubble plinth and large timber framing, which has angle-braces on the first floor and some 20th-century brick infill, including areas in a herringbone pattern. The roof is thatched, and there is a brick ridge stack at the center. The building likely originally had a two-unit lobby entry plan. It is two stories high and has a two-window range. There is a plank door at the center and irregularly placed 20th-century casement windows. Inside, there is a 20th-century open-well staircase leading from the ground floor to the attic, a queen-post roof with wind braces, and chamfered spine beams on the ground floor with ogee end stops. An open fireplace is located on the left side of the ground floor, and there are some plank doors that may date back to the 17th century.
