Description
This is a barn and attached stables located approximately 25 meters and 2 meters west of Number 87 in Radley. The barn dates from the early 18th century and features weatherboarding over a timber frame set on a limestone plinth, topped with a gabled old tile roof. It has a three-bay plan with a central threshing floor and a central gabled porch. Inside, there is a three-bay collar-truss roof with curved inner principals, clasped purlins, and braced posts. The framing on the right and front has been renewed. The stables, also from the early 18th century, with the left stable dating from the later 18th century, are constructed from similar materials. The stable on the right has a similar collar truss and flanking queen-post trusses, while the left stable features a three-bay roof with similar collar trusses, a manger rack, and a hay loft. This building is included for its group value.
