Barn And Stables Circa 15 Metres To North Of Cholsey Farmhouse

This building is a barn and stables located approximately 15 meters north of Cholsey Farmhouse, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The barn features a timber frame with weatherboard cladding, a flint and brick plinth, and an old tile roof. It consists of three bays, with the central bay having cart doors at the rear and an altered half-hipped projection at the front. The flanking bays have lean-to projections. Inside, there are cranked principal trusses with curved braces supporting the tie beams. The former cartshed, which is now used as stables, is on the left and has a flint and brick rear wall. The front of this section was originally open but has been infilled, rendered, and colourwashed, while retaining arcade braces. It has a half-hipped corrugated Onduline roof with five bays. There are 20th-century metal windows and stable doors at the center and left. The structure features queen strut and curved queen post trusses. This building is included for its group value.
