Description

REDDITCH B CRUMPFIELDS LANE (west side) SP 06 NW NW Webheath 1/48 Barn and stable about 30 yards north-west of Crumpfields Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and stable. Probably mid-C18 with mid-C19 alterations. Timber-framed, weatherboarded with some brick replacement walling on brick plinth; half- hipped plain tiled roof. Four framed bays aligned north/south; wagon bay second from south end has opposed cart entries with double doors to east elevation. Loft door to right of east elevation. Interior: long rectangular panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces, collar and tie-beam trusses with two struts beneath collar and raking struts in lower corners. North bay is floored and ground floor used as calf pens, access to which is by two doors in west elevation. A C19 brick stable adjoins the south gable end with stable door in its east elevation. The cow shed adjoining east side of north bay is not of special architectural interest. The barn and stable occupy the west side of the farmyard adjacent to Crumpfields Farmhouse (qv). Included for group value.
