Description

Old Oak Barn is a mid-19th century barn situated near Sinton Green in Grimley. It is timber framed and has weatherboard cladding, a brick plinth, and a corrugated iron roof. The barn comprises four bays; the second bay from the east gable end features a wagon bay with cart entries on both sides. Large rectangular panels are reinforced with long, straight braces at the lower corners. Stable doors are located in both the north and south elevations of the westernmost bay. Internally, the barn has queen strut trusses and mainly double, trenched purlins, with some straight wind-braces. The west end bay is floored. A brick stable block adjoins the west gable end of the barn. The barn is included on the list for group value only.
