Description

The Old Barn is an 18th-century barn located in Hanbury. It is timber-framed and built on a base of sandstone rubble and brick, with weatherboarding and a plain tiled roof. The barn has four bays aligned east to west. A wagon bay, originally situated third from the east gable end, is now blocked. The north elevation has an inserted door, a two-light casement window in the former wagon bay, and two openings above.

Inside, the barn features long rectangular panels, long straight lower braces, and intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts. A 19th-century outbuilding is attached to the west gable end, and 19th-century lean-to additions at the east gable end and south elevation are not part of the listed building.

The barn forms a group of buildings with the nearby farmhouse and another barn to the north-west of the farmstead.
