Description
Upper Goosehill Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with later alterations and additions from the late 18th and mid-19th centuries. It is partially timber-framed with brick infill, and partially brick, with a mainly machine-tiled roof. The original design featured three bays aligned east/west, with an external chimney set to the left of the south elevation, and a rear range dating back to the 18th century. The house has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar. The timber framing on the original section shows four panels from sill to wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. The collar and tie-beam trusses at the gable ends have two collars and five struts to the lower collar, and two to the upper collar. The south front has 20th-century leaded casement windows; the ground floor has a three-light window, and the first floor has a three-light window and a pair of single-light windows. A 20th-century gabled timber-framed porch with a half-glazed door sits at the central entrance, with a brick chimney on the right side of the roof pitch. Gable ends have tiled weatherings between the storeys and above the attic lights. Inside, the main beams are stop-chamfered with run-out stops. Single-storey rear additions include a kitchen with baking ovens.
