Description
Pound Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions from the 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill, brick replacement walling, and tiled roofs. There is a brick stack on the right main ridge and two external brick stacks on the left side elevation, all topped with oversailing cap courses. The building has a hall and cross-wing type plan, consisting of one framed bay in the main range and a two-bay cross-wing. It stands two storeys high and has a cogged eaves cornice on the main range.
The framing is exposed in the gable end of the cross-wing, showcasing square panels with four from the sill to the wall-plate, swept braces in the top corners, and a queen strut truss in the gable end with two struts to the collar. The front elevation of the main range includes a ground floor casement window with a cambered head, a gabled dormer with a casement, and a planked door with a cambered head, accompanied by a gabled canopy supported by timber uprights with trellised infill on the right side. The cross-wing gable end features a ground floor glazing bar sash with a moulded architrave and a first floor casement window; there is also a fire insurance mark on the tie-beam. The interior has not been inspected. A 19th century single storey extension is attached to the right side elevation.
