Description

Bishon Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with an extension added in the late 19th century. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill set on a tall coursed rubble plinth, and the extension is built in brick with a concrete tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with the cross-wing oriented north-east to south-west and the other range extending to the south-east.

The main stack is located at the south corner of the cross-wing and has a pilaster supporting the rectangular brick shaft. The cross-wing consists of two storeys with attics, which are illuminated by a 2-light casement window, while the first floor has a 20-pane sash window. The right range includes two windows: a 20-pane boxed sash and a 16-pane sash. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light casement window to the left, positioned under a segmental brick arch. The entrance to the left features a gabled tiled canopy supported by plain wooden posts and a 19th-century half-glazed door.

The framing of the building includes three square panels high, with the gable-end truss supported by two raking struts, a collar, and V-struts at the apex. Inside, the staircase is notable for its pierced splat balusters and a moulded handrail.
