BISHOPSTONE CP BISHOPSTONE SO 44 SW 5/6 Bishon Farmhouse 20.2.53 II

Farmhouse. C17, extended late C19. Timber-frame with brick infill on a tall coursed rubble plinth, extended in brick with a concrete tile roof. T-plan, the cross-wing aligned north-east/south-west, the other range to the south-east. Main stack at south corner of cross-wing with a pilaster to the rectangular brick shaft. Cross-wing of two storeys with attics lit by a 2-light casement, the first floor has a 20-pane sash. Range to right has two windows, a 20-pane boxed sash and a 16-pane sash. Ground floor has a 3-light casement to left under a segmental brick arch. The entrance to the left has a gabled tiled canopy on plain wooden posts and a C19 half-glazed door. Framing: three square panels high, the gable-end truss with two raking struts, collar and V-struts in the apex. Interior: staircase has pierced splat balusters and a moulded hand rail.
