Description
The Knapp is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with extensions added in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill, which has been extended in painted and rendered brick, all resting on a rubble plinth and topped with a tile roof. The building has a T-plan layout, with a 19th-century cross-wing aligned east to west and a 17th-century range to the south. There is a truncated lateral stack on the west wall.
The west front is two storeys high, with the cross-wing on the left featuring a glazing bar sash window above a 3-light casement, both under segmental heads. The range to the right has three 3-light casements, and on the ground floor, there are four casements under plank weatherings, with the left of centre being fixed and the others consisting of three lights. The framing details include a south gable that was formerly jettied but is now underbuilt. The walls consist of four square panels high with straight angle braces. The gable-end truss has three struts to the collar, V-struts in the apex, and trenched purlins.
