Description
Old Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the mid-18th century, with some restoration work carried out in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered infill set on a rubble plinth, and it is extended in coursed rubble, all topped with a tile roof. The layout is L-shaped, with wings extending to the west and north.
The central axial stack in the west wing has two diamond-plan brick shafts. The east front includes a gabled cross-wing on the left, with a range to the right that is one storey high with an attic, which is lit by two gabled dormers. The ground floor has a 2-light casement window on the left and a canted bay window on the right. The entrance is marked by a gabled tiled porch. The left cross-wing is two storeys high, with a gable-lit attic, and features a 3-light casement above a canted bay window with a flat roof. The entrance to the right has a gabled porch with a two-leaf 20th-century outer door.
The framing of the building includes two square panels high to the first floor of the cross-wing. The gable end has three struts supporting the collar, with V-struts in the apex and trenched purlins.
