Description
Knoll Cottage, now divided into two houses, dates from the early 17th century and was extended in the late 17th century, with some repairs made in the mid-20th century. The building features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, topped by a thatched roof. It has a T-plan layout, with a cross-wing aligned east to west and another range to the north. At the junction of the two wings, there is a chimney stack with a brick shaft. The west front is one storey high with an attic, which is lit by a gabled dormer on the left. The ground floor includes a three-light casement window on the left and two fixed casements beneath the jetty on the right. The entrance at the left corner has a half-glazed porch with a segmental roof and a ledged and boarded door. There is another entrance at the right corner with a half-glazed porch and a lean-to roof. The framing consists of three square panels high, with the jetty supported on scroll brackets.
