Description

Park Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, which was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with brick and rendered infill, set on a base of brick and sandstone, topped by a plain tiled roof. The building consists of two framed bays aligned from north-west to south-east, with a large chimney located on the rear south-west elevation that has a rebuilt stack. It is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers.

The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in some lower corners and short straight braces in some upper corners. The roof structure consists of collar and tie-beam trusses, with three struts to the collar and a V-strut at the apex. On the north-east entrance elevation, there is a lean-to addition with a cat-slide roof that extends almost the full length of the elevation. The ground floor features a 3-light casement, a 2-light casement, and a single-light casement, while the three gabled dormers contain 2-light casements. The main entrance, located at the right end of the lean-to, has a 20th-century door, and there is an attic light at the north-west end.

Inside, the framing is mostly intact, with a transverse main ceiling beam in the south-east bay and a longitudinal main ceiling beam in the north-west bay. There is also a lean-to addition at the north-west gable end.
