Description

The Mount is a house dating from the 17th century that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill on a base of sandstone and brick, along with some brick replacement walling and an addition. The roof is plain tiled. The building has a hall and cross-wing plan, with the hall consisting of three framed bays that run east to west. At the west end of the largest easternmost bay, there is a large chimney with two octagonal 20th-century ridge stacks, creating a lobby-entry plan. An additional 20th-century external chimney has been added to the west gable end. The east gable end has a single-bay cross-wing. The house is one storey with an attic that includes dormers.

The north front elevation features ground floor windows with plank weatherings. The hall section has a three-light and two two-light ground floor casements, along with two hipped dormers that have two-light casements. There is a 20th-century gabled timber porch with a 20th-century door. The cross-wing gable end on the left has a ground floor two-light casement and tiled weathering at the tie-beam and collar level, along with a 20th-century stack on the left side of the roof. An attic light is present at the west gable end.

Inside, there are moulded ceiling beams and a large fireplace in the upper bay of the hall. A 20th-century hipped-roofed single-storey wing has been added at the west gable end.
