Description
Cruise Hill Cottage is a 17th-century house that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with brick and rendered infill set on a brick base, topped with a plain tiled roof. The cottage consists of two framed bays oriented east to west and has a large external chimney at the east gable end, which has offsets on the south side and a cogged course at the base of the stack. The building is single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing includes three panels from the sill to the wall-plate, short straight braces in the upper corners, and a collar and tie-beam truss with two struts to the collar and a single strut in the apex, which is visible at the west gable end.
On the north front elevation, the ground floor features two pairs of 2-light casements, each with a plank weathering, and there are two gabled dormers with square 20th-century single-light windows. An attic light is present at the west gable end, along with a small rectangular light at the base of the stack at the east end. The interior has not been inspected. There is a 20th-century extension at the rear of the west bay, which contains the current main entrance in its west side elevation.
