Description
Oak Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that was extensively restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill and large brick external chimneys, one with a detached stack at the east gable end and another external brick stack at the west gable end. The cottage consists of two framed bays and is single storey with an attic that includes a gabled dormer. The framing includes three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, long straight braces in the lower corners, and collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts in the gable ends.
The front elevation has three ground floor two-light 20th-century casement windows, a two-light casement in the central gabled dormer, and a central 20th-century door. There are also attic lights in the gable ends. Inside, the roof has a single row of trenched purlins and an intermediate collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. At the east gable end, there is a single storey wing that leads into a large single storey and attic extension.
