Description
Thatch Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century that has been extensively restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill and a thatched roof, along with a large external brick chimney at the east gable end, which has offsets and a detached stack. The cottage consists of two framed bays and is single storey with an attic that includes dormers. The framing displays irregular panels, primarily three from the sill to the wall-plate, with long straight braces in the lower corners and collar and tie-beam trusses that have queen struts and V-struts in the apex at the gable ends.
On the front elevation, the ground floor has two 20th-century two-light casements and a rectangular light, while the very large "eyebrow" dormers feature 20th-century casements with cambered heads. There are attic lights in the gable ends, and the main entrance is now located in a single storey wing at the east gable end. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a large rendered extension that is single storey and attic, which adjoins the rear left of the cottage.
