Description
Nursery Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a tiled roof. The building consists of two framed bays that are aligned north to south, and it has a lateral stack on the east wall of the north bay, made of ashlar with three brick shafts arranged in a 6-point star plan.
The west front has two storeys, with a top-hung casement window to the left on the upper floor. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century top-hung casement window to the left, and a central entrance that features a gabled 19th-century timber-framed porch. This porch leads to a ledged and boarded door, which is topped by a 3-pane overlight. The framing of the cottage includes close-studding with straight tension braces, and the roof has been rebuilt.
