Description
Bentley House Farmhouse and the attached granary is a farmhouse that includes farm buildings, dating from the late 18th century, with elements from a late 17th-century farm building and some alterations from the late 19th century. The structure is made of brick and features a tile roof with gable-end stacks. It has an L-plan layout, with the 18th-century section extending to the southwest and the rear 17th-century part to the northwest.
The southeast front has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by three gabled dormers. There are three windows on this facade: two three-light casements flank a two-light casement, all of which are set under segmental heads. The ground floor features a central entrance that is topped by a gabled 19th-century porch. The rear wing is partially integrated into the house and includes a granary at the northwest end. This granary is two storeys high and has a moulded stone cornice. The ground floor consists of seven bays defined by square stone pillars, which were apparently originally open to the front but have since been infilled with brick. The original function of this space is uncertain, but it may have served as a large cartshed.
