Description
Lock number 49 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805, with some repairs made in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, although some of these have been repaired using brick. At the upper end, there is a single gate, while the lower end has a pair of gates. The mouth of the lock is constructed from blue brick and has brick copings, along with steps on the north side. This lock is included for its group value as it is part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest flight of locks in England.
