Description

Lock number 31 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805 and has undergone some repairs in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, although some of these have been repaired with brick. At the upper end, there is a single gate, while the lower end has a pair of gates. The mouth of the lock is constructed of blue brick with brick copings, and there are steps on both the north and south sides. This lock is included for its group value and is part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest flight of locks in England.
