Worcester And Birmingham Canal, Lock Number 34

Lock number 34 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805 and has undergone some repairs in the late 19th and mid-20th centuries. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, although these have been repaired with brick. At the upper end, there is a single gate, while the lower end has a pair of gates. The mouth of the lock is constructed from blue brick with brick copings and includes steps on the north side. There are 19th-century brick treads for opening the upper lock gate. This lock is part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest in England, and is included for its group value.
