Description

Lock number 50 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805 and has undergone some repairs in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, although some of these have been repaired with brick. The lock has a single gate at the upper end and a pair of gates at the lower end. The mouth of the lock is made of blue brick with brick copings and includes steps on the north side. The retaining wall on the south side at the lower end has two rope wear marks and brick treads from the 19th century. This lock is part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest in England.
