Description

Lock number 43 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805, with some repairs made in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, which have been partly repaired using brick and concrete. There is a single gate at the upper end and a pair of gates at the lower end. The mouth of the lock is constructed of blue brick with brick copings and has steps on the north side. This lock is included for its group value as it is part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest flight of locks in England.
