Description

Lock number 46 on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal was built around 1805, with some repairs made in the late 19th century and mid-20th century. It features a rectangular chamber with stone copings, although some areas have been repaired using brick and concrete. The lock has a single gate at the upper end and a pair of gates at the lower end. The mouth of the lock is constructed from blue brick with brick copings and includes steps on the north side. This lock is significant as part of the Tardebigge Flight, which is the longest flight of locks in England.
