Description

Lime Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, with additions from the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill between the framing, set on a plinth of coursed rubble, and has a tile roof. The house has two framed bays arranged east to west, with brick gable-end stacks, the one to the east built on a rubble base. The south front has one storey and an attic. The attic is lit by a framed gabled dormer containing two two-light casement windows sheltered by plank weatherings. The ground floor features two two-light casement windows also protected by plank weatherings. A gabled tiled porch covers a 20th-century ledged and boarded entrance door. The timber framing is arranged in three square panels, with straight angle braces. The dormer gable truss has two struts to the collar, with V-struts at the apex, a feature also present in the gable-end trusses.
