Description

Staick Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with later 18th-century and mid-20th-century alterations. It is timber-framed with rendered infill, set on a plinth of coursed rubble, and the front has been re-faced in painted brick, all beneath a roof of slate and tile. The building is in an "L" shape, with sections extending east and south, and includes a lower 18th-century extension to the west. A rubble stack with a brick shaft is located at the west gable end of the east limb. The north front has two storeys and three windows; two two-light casements flank a single-light casement on the upper floor, while the ground floor has two two-light casements with segmental heads. A full-height cart entrance is on the left-hand end. The house entrance faces onto the carriageway and has a ledged and boarded door. The framing is arranged in three square panels internally. The visible internal truss within the cart entry has three struts to the collar.
