Description

Arrow Lawn Cottage is a house that dates from the late 16th century, with extensions from the 17th century and a raising of the structure in the early 19th century, along with some restorations in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame construction with rendered infill on a coursed rubble plinth, topped with a tile roof. The building consists of six bays aligned east to west, with the two western bays originating from the 16th century and the remaining bays from the 17th century. The two eastern bays are slightly set to the north of the main axis.

The south elevation has two storeys, with the first floor being blind on the left side and featuring three windows to the right of centre: one 2-light casement and two single-light casements. On the ground floor, there is a 5-light window with wooden mullions to the left of centre, and two 3-light casements with plank weatherings to the right. The entrance on the left-hand end has a segmental head and a ledged and boarded door, while a second entrance to the right of centre has a 20th-century ledged and boarded door. The framing on the 16th-century part consists of four square panels high, with a jettied west gable that includes a king-post truss above, featuring herringbone bracing. The 17th-century framing is primarily three square panels high.
